I'm getting ready to clear out my tomato plants and want to refresh the bed with some compost, fertilizer, and mulch. While I wait for cooler weather to plant my next crops, I'd like some suggestions on what I can grow in the meantime. Ideally, I want something that I can easily uproot when the time comes, rather than waiting months to harvest. Any ideas?

Wow, you're already done with your tomatoes? I’m still getting started with mine over here in 9b northwest of Tampa. Summer heat can be tough on them, but I’ve got a few planted just to see how they hold up.
You might want to try growing field peas (like black-eyed peas). They're quite popular in the South and require minimal effort to take care of. Just be ready to shell a bunch once they're ready!
Can you eat them like green beans?
