I recently bought a place with shelving in the kitchen closet, and I've noticed that when I place anything heavy towards the middle, the shelves begin to bow. The vertical frames are toggle bolted in, so I'd prefer not to remove one to add extra support. Additionally, there's about a 1-inch gap between the back of the shelves and the wall. I was thinking about using L shelf brackets for extra support in the center, but I'd love to hear if anyone has other suggestions! Thanks for your help!

I’ve faced a similar issue before! Years back, I built shelves like yours, and they sagged in the middle as well. What worked for me was adding vertical support using 1x4s placed in the center. Just cut them to the right length and secure them down with cabinet screws through the top. If the 1x4 is too low, you could upgrade to a 2x4 for more strength. Just make sure to paint them to match when you’re done!
You can find brackets specifically for this issue at most home improvement stores. They’re pretty easy to install, so just grab a couple and you should be good to go!

Are you referring to the L brackets? That’s what I was considering. I guess I can just mount them with some drywall anchors!
