Hey folks! I'm in the market for a crosscut saw and I'm trying to figure out whether I should go for a brand new one or try to find an older model. What do you all recommend?

I’d suggest you grab an old crosscut saw and give it some TLC. Learning to sharpen and maintain these tools is super valuable. It’ll set you up for life! Plus, there's something really satisfying about bringing an old tool back to life.
Crosscut saws require a bit more skill to file compared to rip saws, so if you're planning to rehab one, make sure to get the right files and maybe some jigs to help out. If leaning towards new, Japanese saws offer excellent value. For a Western style, Veritas saws are a great choice, just watch out for those tariffs!
If you’re into Japanese saws, I highly recommend checking them out. They’re fantastic at crosscutting and pretty easy to use. Z-saw models are known for their quality!
