Hey everyone! I'm currently working on a project where I need to cut 1/4" grooves in some 2x4s using a dado setup on my table saw. However, I've noticed that the blades are binding during the cuts, and I'm only using the two main blades for now. I'm wondering if adding a chipper blade and some shims might help reduce or even eliminate this binding issue. Any advice would be super helpful, thanks!

How deep are you trying to cut that groove? If it's a 1/2" deep by 1/4" wide groove, it could be better to do multiple passes while gradually raising the blade. That way it eases the strain on the blades and might prevent binding.
It sounds like you might be overloading your saw a bit. Try reducing the blade height and taking a few passes instead of trying to cut it all in one go. That should help with the binding problem!
