What’s the Going Rate for Used Trex Decking Boards?

Hey everyone! I recently removed my pool and deck this spring, and I'm left with a stack of Trex composite decking boards that I don't have a use for. They're mostly in decent condition and vary in length. I've been trying to figure out a fair price to start selling them as a lot, but I haven't had much luck finding info on Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist. I plan to sort them by size, but I'd love any advice on how to price them. Thanks in advance!

Honestly, you might have a tough time selling them. I tried selling a bunch of stuff when cleaning out my mom's place, and even at a steep discount, nothing moved. If you can’t sell them, consider donating to Habitat for Humanity or a similar charity; you can get a tax deduction too!

That’s a great idea! I didn’t think about the tax write-off. Thanks!

I’d recommend checking out the typical pricing for Trex, which is around $2 per linear foot for basic boards. After figuring out how many feet you’ve got, you could price it around 50 cents per foot. That way, you have some room to negotiate with buyers. It’s a starting point! Good luck with the sale!

That’s smart, splitting the price in half gives you some leverage if they start to haggle!

If you’re looking for a quick way to get rid of them, pricing them around 1/3 of the new price might attract buyers. Just a thought! If all else fails, posting them for free could help you clear them out fast.

Free definitely gets attention! Can’t argue with that!
