I'm super excited to start my first garden at a community site! I've just picked up some tomato plants, a trellis, plant food, and a spray bottle. I've been weeding a lot, but it's proving to be quite challenging. I keep having trouble getting the weeds out completely; it seems like the roots break off and I'm worried I might be spreading the weeds instead of removing them. Is there a better technique I should be using for weeding? Or is it just something that gets easier with time? I'd love any advice you can offer!

Definitely consider getting a garden claw or weed claw! It's this handy tool with metal fingers that you can push down over the weed, twist it, and then pull the whole root out. It makes a big difference in getting those roots out without breaking them off!
Oh no, I hope I haven't wrecked my garden by not pulling out all the weeds! What's the worst that could happen?

What’s a root ball though? I’m not familiar with that term.
