Can I Fix a Sagging Table by Adding Another MDF Top?

I built a custom table, but it's sagging a bit because the shelf isn't thick enough. I used 3/4" MDF, and when I put weight on it, it bends slightly. I want to keep the overall look the same. Would gluing another 3/4" MDF piece on top give me a solid 1.5" thick surface and help with the sagging?

You could try that, but getting a good bond across a large surface can be tricky without the right tools. Have you thought about adding some 1x2 supports underneath instead? They’d span from leg to leg, which might help without changing the table's appearance too much.

That could work! But I really need to keep the space below open. What do you think about using screws to attach both pieces instead?
