Hey everyone! I just moved to Connecticut and, honestly, I've got no time to set up an outdoor garden right now. But I'm really curious about what I could grow indoors with a minimal setup. I've seen a lot of potted plants on forums, but keeping things tidy is a big concern for me. For example, I wouldn't want tomatoes maturing and falling on my wood floors. I'm thinking about buying a rug and maybe a thick plastic liner to protect the floors. I'm definitely interested in starting with herbs like thyme and basil since I use those often. I've heard about growing strawberries indoors and I'm also intrigued by the idea of an avocado tree, even though it takes ages to bear fruit. But I just don't want to shell out $150 for a mature plant. My main interest right now is romaine lettuce. Any tips or suggestions?

For indoors, leafy greens like romaine lettuce are super easy to grow! Just make sure to put them near a window with good sunlight. Flowering plants, like tomatoes, can be tricky and need strong grow lights, but if you're just starting, stick with those leafy veggies for quick results!
You can also try growing potatoes in window planters. They don't take up much space and can be pretty fun to cultivate indoors!
I've been growing alpine strawberries indoors, and it's going well so far! Just saw the first true leaves last week. I'm also experimenting with jalapeños and spinach! It's definitely doable, just keep an eye on sunlight and moisture levels.

Oh, nice! I eat a lot of romaine too. Glad to know it works indoors!
