Hey everyone! I'm getting started on building a bathroom vanity, but I'm pretty new to this. I'm looking for a nice pre-finished red or white oak plywood, but with so many options out there, it's a bit overwhelming. I'd love to do some homework before I hit the lumberyard. I know higher quality will likely cost more, but I'm okay with that for something personal. Thanks for the help!

You might not find a ton of options at the store—usually, they stock just one type of pre-finished red or white oak plywood. But honestly, any of them should work fine for your vanity. If you want something truly top-notch, consider appleply or baltic birch. They require a bit more effort since you'd need to veneer them with oak and apply a clear coat, which might not be what you’re after for a simple bathroom vanity.
For the interior, I recommend pre-finished maple plywood paired with solid wood for the face frame and doors. If you prefer a sleek look, go with unfinished oak plywood for the edges, but just know that you’ll have to apply a finish to it. If you're still considering that unfinished oak look, a good plywood will blend well if you match it properly with your glued oak panels on the drawers and countertop!
A common setup is to use plywood with a melamine surface for the inside of the vanity. For the outer frame, solid wood works best, and matching veneered plywood for the door panels is a solid choice. My local store has pre-finished birch, but if you're aiming for a richer hardwood finish, you’ll want to finish the wood yourself along with the frame.
