Hey everyone! I'm on the lookout for some plant recommendations for my Victorian terrace. I've got a small courtyard right next to my kitchen that gets sun only until midday, after which it's shaded by the house. I'm planning to use small terracotta pots mounted on a south-facing wall. I'd really appreciate any ideas for summer flowering plants that would thrive in these conditions. Thanks a bunch!

Totally agree with checking out local nurseries! For afternoon shade, fuchsias and begonias do great. I also recommend saxifrage for some early blooms and trailing bellflowers can add a nice touch too. Don't forget about Lithodora—it has beautiful blue flowers! Just think about whether you prefer annuals or perennials for your pots.
I really like ivy leaf geraniums since they handle a bit of drought well, which is perfect for terracotta pots. You won't have to water them constantly, and they still look amazing!
I’ve been using Bizzie Lizzies (Impatiens) in my terracotta pots on a similar shaded terrace. They thrive in partial sun and are super durable—haven't let me down yet! Definitely worth considering for your space.
Definitely hit up your local garden center! Check out plants that will do well in partial sun, and think about what colors catch your eye. Also, keep in mind that terracotta can dry out the soil quickly, so drought-tolerant plants might be best unless you're ready to water regularly. If you’re into fun colors, oranges and yellows are vibrant choices!
