I'm curious about native plants that can really enhance a garden. I love my Blackthorn because it blooms with beautiful white flowers in spring, produces sloe berries in autumn, and creates a dense habitat for birds. I even use its straight, side-shooting branches as supports for my climbing plants, like clematis, and to keep my cats out of my borders. What native plants do you think are essential to have in a garden?

I'd definitely suggest Welsh poppies! They keep blooming all summer if you deadhead them regularly. They're such a cheerful addition to any garden and easy to care for!
How about Red Campion? It adds a gorgeous splash of color to shady spots in the garden. It's lovely to pair with other plants, and the color just brightens up the area!
I grow it alongside a rose bush, and it creates such a beautiful scene. The bumblebees love it too!

I love Borage! It's a fantastic plant since it’s low maintenance, pretty, and attracts bees. Plus, you can even use it in cooking. What’s not to love? Plus, it self-seeds like crazy, so you'll always have more!
Exactly! The bees adore it and it keeps flowering for such a long time. I have so much of it; it feels like a Borage jungle.
Just be careful not to mix it up with green alkanet; people do that all the time!
