I recently started collecting plants after losing my cat, and I've become quite attached to them. Unfortunately, I had to throw away four of my plants because they got infested with fungus gnats. I'm really looking for effective ways to prevent this from happening again in the future, as I truly care about my plants.

If you're dealing with fungus gnats, I recommend getting mosquito dunks. You just soak one in a jug of water for a few hours and then use that water to water your plants. It helps to kill off the gnats gradually!
One thing that really helped me with fungus gnats was bottom watering my plants. Overwatering is usually a big attractant for them, so I also tried using sticky traps and covering the top layer of soil with perlite, stones, or even shells. This way, it makes it harder for the gnats to settle in. Just keep in mind that sometimes they can clear out on their own if you’re patient!
I had a rough time with fungus gnats too, and it cost me a beloved plant! But I found that using diatomaceous earth made a huge difference. It’s a powder that dehydrates the gnats when they come into contact with it. I got mine on Amazon, and it worked pretty quickly to take care of the issue.
