I've got a bit of a predicament on my hands. I recently got 14 cubic yards of rocky fill dirt for free, but now it's sitting in my driveway, and I need to move it to my backyard for a project. The problem is that this dirt is mixed with some pretty big rocks, making it a tough job. I've done a similar task before with 10 cubic yards using just a shovel and a four-cubic-foot gorilla cart, but this rocky pile is way more challenging. I promised my HOA I'd move this by May, and with May here, I've got about 11 days off work—counting weekends—to get it done, but it's supposed to rain for 4 or 5 days. I've covered the pile with a tarp and decided to take my chances with working during the rain.

Hey, have you thought about looking locally for someone with a skid steer? There are usually guys on Facebook Marketplace who can come out and do the work for you. You might find someone who can do it for between $300-$700, and you won't have to lift a finger!
Definitely rent the skid steer! The last thing you want is for a neighbor to get hurt while trying to help out. That could end up costing you way more in the long run than just renting the machine. You’ll save time and get the job done right.
Totally agree with the skid steer option. It sounds like it’ll make your life a lot easier, especially with those bigger rocks involved. Plus, you don’t want to risk not getting it moved before your daughter’s birthday party. Better to be done and enjoy the day!
