Struggling with Dry Air in Our Home – Need Tips!

I'm facing an issue with the air quality in my house, which I suspect might be too dry. My wife, our two kids, and I are all having a hard time breathing—waking up with sore throats and experiencing drainage. We were told that the filters were changed when we moved in about five months ago, but we've been dealing with these symptoms since then, even if they weren't as severe at the beginning. Although I'm planning to replace the filters soon, they still look nearly new. We currently have just one small humidifier in our bedroom, but it's becoming a significant problem for us. I'm looking for any ideas or solutions to improve the air quality. We live in Dallas, Texas, so I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it.

I can relate—I live in Colorado and dealt with similar problems. If you have a forced air heating and cooling system, you might want to consider installing a whole-house humidifier that connects to your furnace. It really helps improve the air quality throughout the house! Here’s a link to one that works great in my home: https://g.co/kgs/nJXy7jg.

It sounds like you've got a dry air situation on your hands. Just a heads up, changing the air filters won't actually fix humidity issues. I grew up in Dallas, and while it generally doesn't feel too dry, I've been in places with seriously dry air, like Arizona or Colorado. Maybe your body is still adjusting to the local environment. I'd suggest trying to raise your AC's temperature a bit or adding more humidifiers around the house, maybe even larger ones for more coverage.
