I'm setting up raised vegetable beds and have around 25 square feet to fill. Buying soil or compost can get really pricey, so I'm looking for economical alternatives or fillers. Any suggestions?

Tree debris like logs and sticks can be great fillers for your raised beds! They break down over time and add organic matter to your soil.
It really depends on how deep your bed is. If you're filling below 18 inches, logs work well. For below 12 inches, leaves can be effective. Just be careful not to fill too high, or it might affect nitrogen levels for your plants. Also, if you have any hills or higher areas in your yard, you could dig up some soil from there to use.
I don’t have any hills in my yard. Does it make a difference if the logs or leaves are dead?
