I've been battling a frustrating leak issue in my home for the past six months. I noticed water dripping down from the top of an internal doorway, which is right beneath a door leading out to my roof deck, during a heavy rainstorm. I initially thought I fixed it by applying roofing mastic to some seams, but it leaked again two months later during another storm. After consulting three roofers, all of whom said the roof was fine, I decided to invest in a new storm door and window. For a month, everything was fine despite heavy rains, but unfortunately, it leaked again yesterday under the door. I tested the door area with a hose for a long time but couldn't replicate the leak, so I'm stumped. Any ideas on what might be the source of the water? What type of contractor should I call for this? Could it be an issue with the house wrap underneath or maybe even the speaker by the door?

Another possibility is that you could be dealing with wind-driven rain that's pushing water in through the threshold. If the roofing material is properly installed but the siding is on top without proper flashing, water might find its way inside. A good next step would be to pop off the vinyl panel below the threshold to check for actual flashing. It's a simple investigation and could reveal where the leak is coming from.
I took a picture below the vinyl and it looks like there is some flashing there. It's been in place since before I replaced the door, and it’s metal. The roofing material definitely tucks under the door threshold securely. I'm just not sure where else the water could be coming from, though it’s much less than before.
