Am I Damaging My Sunflowers as a First-Time Grower?

I recently received some sunflower seeds from work for Earth Day, and I've been taking care of them indoors with a UV light for about a week. Now that I've moved them outside, they look a bit flopped over, and I'm worried I might be harming them. Here's a photo: https://i.imgur.com/1XXIcGt.jpeg. Should I be concerned about their health?

It looks like your plants might be 'leggy' because they aren't getting enough light. When they're indoors, make sure your UV light is really close—about 2 inches above the plants! If the stems are long and thin with small leaves, that's a sign they were stretching for light. Moving them outdoors is a great start, but you'll need to support those stems by burying them deeper in the soil.

Yeah, if the stems look long and thin, that's definitely 'leggy.' You're going to want to plant them a bit deeper now that they're outside, which helps them anchor better and access more nutrients. And yes, you can use soil from your yard; it should work just fine for young plants like these!

I totally get it! The light you were using may not have been strong enough. While it's tempting to place the light further away, keeping it closer is crucial. But be careful—not too close to avoid scorching them. If they’re already floppy, don’t panic; just give them a little extra support in the soil, and they should perk up once they get more sunlight.
