What’s the Best Paint for My Indoor Doors?

Hey everyone! After spending three days trying to strip my interior doors and not getting the results I wanted, I've decided to paint them instead. I'm looking for recommendations on the best white paint for indoor wood doors that will give me a smooth finish. What would you suggest?

I recommend going for an alkyd-based paint. Brands like Sherwin Williams Infinity or Emerald work great, as do Valspar's cabinet and furniture paint. Alkyd paints level out really well, almost like enamel, and they dry harder, making them super durable.

I've had luck using Zinsser Bin 1-2-3 as a primer followed by Benjamin Moore Advance paint. If you can paint your doors while they’re on sawhorses, you can apply a thicker coat without worrying about runs.

Look for paints specifically designed for cabinetry or trim. My favorite is Sherwin Williams Emerald Urethane, especially if you can catch it on sale. Avoid using regular latex paint—you want something made for doors and trim for the best finish.
