Hey everyone! I'm new to this gardening thing and have a quick question. I was originally going to buy sugar snap pea seeds, but then I thought about using some organic sugar snap peas I found at the grocery store. Can I just plant those directly in the soil and expect them to grow? What do you think? Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately, planting those store-bought sugar snap peas likely won’t work. They’re usually harvested too early, meaning the seeds inside aren’t mature enough to germinate.

You could certainly give it a shot since they’re organic, but most store peas are picked while they’re still young. The seeds probably won’t sprout, so if you want guaranteed results, it’s better to go for seed-grade peas. Still, it’d be a fun little experiment!
I wish I had more garden space to risk that experiment! Next year, maybe.
Totally agree! But being organic doesn’t really help with how well they’ll sprout.
Yeah, I think you might be right. They do look a little underdeveloped anyway.
