I bought my house four years ago, and I'm drowning in debt trying to fix it up since it was a rental for 20 years. Most of the work done was really poorly executed by someone who's not skilled.
I've only tackled small DIY projects before, like painting and removing popcorn ceilings. Now, I've discovered that the linoleum in my bathroom is peeling, and when I pulled it back, I found multiple layers underneath. Plus, there seems to be water coming from the shower that's damaging the flooring.
I'm wondering if a broke novice like me can manage to remove those layers of linoleum and replace the rotted wood, or if I might also need to remove the shower too? I tried to share pictures, but I can't attach them here.

Honestly, it sounds like you're facing a major renovation. If the subfloor and joists are rotting beneath the flooring, they're likely shot under the shower as well. Just a heads up, you can upload pics to Imgur to share, but brace yourself for possibly needing a full renovation.
I checked under the ceiling of the only bathroom, and it looks okay. I found out there was a fire in 2004 after I bought the house. I planned for a full reno, but my budget is shot—started with 100k, and I'm already at 130k without much done. I've gotten quotes around 150k more, and the house is only worth 194k!
