Hey everyone! I need some advice on fixing stripped screw holes in my kitchen cabinet that holds a sliding trash can. The cabinet seems to be made of cheap particle board, and the original screws for the slider rails have completely worn out the holes. I can't drill new holes because there's not enough material left. I'm considering filling the old holes and re-drilling, but I'm unsure about the best method. Should I go with wood filler, dowels, or something else entirely? I'm looking for a renter-friendly solution that will stand up to repeated use since my landlord won't help. Thanks for your input!

You could try using epoxy to fill the holes. Just fill them up and then screw the screws back in. It should hold pretty well!
For a more secure fix, I recommend using some dowels. Get some 1"+ dowels, drill new holes for them, glue them in, and then pre-drill for your screws. This should give you a much sturdier hold!
A simple fix is to use some wood glue with toothpicks. Just break a toothpick to fit into the stripped holes, add a bit of wood glue, and screw it back in. If it's still a bit loose, you can add another toothpick for extra grip.
So just to confirm, you mean to fill the holes with epoxy and then reinsert the screws directly into that, right?
