Hey everyone! My friend just bought a new build house and is planning to tackle his garden soon, but it's full of rubble and large stones that he needs to clear out. He mentioned he might just remove the top inches of soil, which doesn't sound like the best plan. I suggested he consider using a rotary soil sieve or a general big soil sieve to keep the soil and sift out the rocks. After that, he could bulk buy compost or topsoil to prepare for leveling it out or starting a garden, but he's looking for any advice or experiences others might have. He's eager to get this done since he has a little one on the way! Also, he's open to renting equipment to do a proper job.

I had a similar issue with my garden. I made a DIY sieve from aviary mesh and some wood, about a square meter in size. It worked well but be prepared; it’s hard work shoveling soil and rubble through it, plus you'll end up bagging a lot of waste for the dump. I basically canceled my gym membership because I was getting a workout in the garden!

Would you recommend getting a couple of friends to do it all at once or taking it slow? I was thinking of getting one off Amazon for convenience. Also, with the tall grass and weeds there now, he might want to grab a strimmer before starting.
