I'm thinking about getting a wisteria plant to grow by my front door, but I've heard that they can take over 30 years to bloom. I'd prefer to buy one that's already in bloom when I shop for it. What should I look out for when searching for a wisteria? Thanks in advance!

You definitely want a grafted wisteria if you're looking for quicker blooms. I bought a tiny one a few years back and it produced flowers way earlier than I expected. It really doesn’t have to take decades! Just make sure to pick a healthy-looking plant in the store, and give it a good spot when you plant it.
When you're shopping for a wisteria, look for a grafted plant, especially since it's flowering season now! If you can find one that's already blooming, that's a great sign that it will continue to flower for you. I got a small grafted one, and it bloomed every year without the long wait.
While wisterias need time to mature, mine didn't take ages either. I got mine for cheap and after a couple years in a pot, it bloomed its first flowers at around five years old! If you want blooms sooner, just look for a more mature plant, even though it might be pricier. Remember, proper pruning is key! Snip back the tendrils to six buds in late summer and then to three buds in winter for the best results.
Could you clarify what you mean by cutting back to six and three buds? I keep seeing that but I'm not sure how to manage the height!
