Is Converting a Full Bath to a Walk-In Shower a Good Idea?

Hey everyone! I'm looking to upgrade some things in my house over the next couple of years. I have a 2200 sq ft home in a suburb of Seattle with three full baths. I'm considering whether I should convert one of those baths into a walk-in shower or if I should just stick to replacing the outdated square tiles around the existing tub. What do you all think? Would a shower be a better option?

I think a walk-in shower is a great choice! A friend of mine did the same in her mom's house, and now her mom says she doesn't even want a tub anymore. They went for a really spacious design, and it turned out awesome. Just make sure to consider how your plumbing choices can influence water flow and pressure. Using Sharkbite fittings has been great for us in terms of water flow.

When we remodeled our master bath, we opted to ditch the tub for a spacious shower, and honestly, it’s been way more useful for us compared to the tub. Plus, it's a lot safer to use, especially as we get older. A shower can be a fantastic upgrade!

Absolutely! Having a shower makes it easier to get in and out, especially as we age.

I converted a bath on the lower level to make it easier for wheelchair access. I ensured the entrance was wide and there was no curb at the floor level. It's all about planning for the future, you know? If you think about accessibility down the line, a shower can be the way to go!

Before you decide, are you planning on staying in the house long-term? It might impact resale value if you choose to convert it into a shower. Just a thought!
