I'm starting out in the Milwaukee tool lineup and planning to buy all new tools, but I'm on a budget. I'm considering whether it's a smart move to buy used batteries instead of new ones. For instance, I can get four brand new 5.0Ah M18 batteries for the same price as seven used batteries along with a charger. Sure, I won't have a warranty with the used ones, but if one dies, I have plenty more to fall back on. I'll be using these batteries for various tools, including an M18 radio, impact, drill, circular saw, grinder, and maybe a couple more. What do you all think?

Buying used batteries can be risky. The main concern is their lifespan since they might have been heavily used already. I've often regretted going for used ones because, even if they look good, you can't always tell how much capacity they have left. For instance, my radio battery looked fine but had been frozen and charged a ton of times, so it doesn't hold charge well at all now.
