I've been using a large compressor for my spraygun for a few years, and it's been awesome until recently. Now it takes forever to reach pressure, and it sounds like there might be a leak when it starts. Once it finally gets to a certain pressure, it can hit max pressure without an issue, but I'm worried about the strain on the compressor and the hidden leak. Has anyone else dealt with this? Can I fix it myself with a part, or does it need a thorough cleaning or something? I'd consider finding a local repair service, but I'm not sure they still exist for compressors.

Try spraying some soapy water on all the connections and hoses. It’ll help you find any leaks by showing bubbles. Also, when it finally reaches pressure, check how long it can hold that pressure before dropping.
You should check the pressure relief valve or the check valve; it might be staying open which can cause these delays. It’s usually an easy fix if that's the case.
Don't forget to maintain it—let out any air and condensation after each use to prevent corrosion. It can make a big difference!
It could also depend on whether you have a belt-driven compressor or a unit where the motor and pump are combined. That could affect maintenance issues.
