Should I Wait to Buy an Energy Star Water Heater Due to Funding Concerns?

Hey everyone! I'm planning to replace my water heater this year using my tax return funds. I was considering getting an Energy Star rated unit since I could get a rebate when I file taxes next year. However, I've heard about the potential defunding of the Energy Star program, which makes me wonder if the rebate will still be available. Should I hold off on the purchase and see how this situation develops, or should I go ahead in hopes that some funding will still allow for rebates next year? I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Honestly, it’s tough to say right now. The rebate situation is uncertain since they might keep it for another year or cut it entirely. If your current water heater is functioning fine (no leaks), it might be best to wait.

The water heater we have is okay, but we're not sure when it was installed or if it's the original from when we bought the house. They kind of misled us about upgrades.
