Is the Dewalt Tracksaw Enough for Breaking Down Plywood?

I've been looking into track saws and I've noticed a lot of opinions that the Festool, Makita, and Milwaukee models are generally considered superior to the Dewalt Flexvolt tracksaw. However, since I'll mainly be using it for breaking down 1/2" to 3/4" birch plywood for paint grade projects, I want to know if the Dewalt is suitable for my needs. I already have a bunch of Dewalt batteries and tools, so I'd prefer to stick with that brand rather than investing in another battery ecosystem.

I've had the Dewalt 60v tracksaw for a few years, and it's been fantastic for my professional work. Sure, there are some quirks — like a tricky depth adjustment knob and it can get filled with sawdust when cutting certain materials without a vacuum. But overall, it performs really well! Just keep in mind that the tracks are not interchangeable with others, so if you’re looking for additional accessories, those options are limited. For corded options, Festool and Makita are solid choices, but I don’t see why the Dewalt gets so much hate. It does the job!

True, there are some aftermarket accessories like a square and router guide available for it!

I actually own two of these bad boys! The 102" rail is a must if you're doing a lot of 8' cuts. Even though I haven't used a Festool, I can vouch for the Dewalt's power — it handles everything, from wood to even carbon fiber panels! Definitely recommend it if you're already in the Dewalt ecosystem.

Festool's definitely pricier and has some enhancements that make it a top choice, but if budget is a concern, I’d stick with the Dewalt. Some reviewers have their gripes with the Dewalt, but those issues may not affect your situation. Personally, I think the Dewalt does well enough, though I'd like to see some improvements to match Festool's touches.

Honestly, a track saw is all about making straight cuts, and the Dewalt does that exceptionally well. The main advantage it has is more power, but if you're not tackling super thick materials, it's more than enough. I chose Dewalt for consistency with my other tools, and the long track is super useful for making bigger cuts!
