I'm looking into an integrated solar system from Sunsynk that includes both the inverter and batteries. However, I'm also considering using their inverter with a third-party battery. I'm curious if using matching batteries provides any smart features, or if the advanced technology is primarily housed within the inverter itself. Any insights would be appreciated!

Honestly, I've got a Deye inverter paired with Felicity Solar batteries, and I don't think any battery out there really outsmarts the others. It’s more about how everything works together than one component being smarter.
Most modern batteries come with a built-in smart Battery Management System (BMS), but for them to fully function, they need to communicate well with the inverter. So in a way, both the inverter and battery are smart in their own right! It's just about how well they mesh together.
The brainy part is in the inverter, but I’d say the default Sunsynk software is a bit lacking in smarts. If you want to really optimize everything, look into pairing it with home or solar assistants. Personally, I wouldn't go for Sunsynk batteries unless you're in it for the extended warranty, which isn't even that great!

That’s what I thought! Are there any other inverters you'd recommend that are good for smart tariff integration and could handle an EV charger too?
