We're currently moving houses and considering a bungalow that has a north facing garden. I'm curious if that will really be an issue since the building shouldn't block too much light. In our current south facing garden, we successfully grow herbs, veggies, lavender, and perennials, and I'm worried that plants won't thrive as well in a north facing setup.

I used to have a south facing garden that was blazing hot all summer, but now I have a north facing garden with a lot of mature trees, including an oak. Honestly, I prefer the north garden; it’s way more pleasant and manageable. Just keep an eye on what can block the light during different times of the day. If your area isn’t packed with tall trees or huge hedges, you should still get decent sunlight!
I live in a north facing chalet bungalow, and believe it or not, most of my garden gets sun nearly all day. Sometimes the height of the house can allow for more light than you expect!

We have a mostly north facing back garden, and honestly, I find it easier to grow things there. The scorching sun can really damage plants unless you set up shaded nooks. Plus, it’s a great spot for certain plants like acers, which I absolutely love!
Totally agree! I have a little one too, and the north aspect is actually nice because it isn’t too intense. Way more comfy to hang out in!
