Need Help Using Mosquito Dunks for Indoor Plants

Asked By GreenThumb42 On

I recently picked up some Mosquito Dunks to tackle the fungus gnats in my houseplants, but I'm unsure about how to use them effectively. Can anyone provide tips on the size of the pieces I should use when watering my indoor potted plants? I'm looking for any advice or personal experiences with these that might help me out. Thanks in advance!

I've only used Mosquito Bits myself for my indoor plants, so I'm not an expert on the Dunks. But I believe Mosquito Bits are just smaller bits compared to the bigger disks of the Dunks. They're easier to handle if you're looking for a less messy option.

You might want to reconsider using those Mosquito Dunks. They can make your water cloudy and leave a residue once it dries. I've had better luck with a product called Microbe-Lift BMC, which is also based on the same bacteria but in a liquid form. It's way easier to use—just two drops per gallon of water—and a little bottle lasts over a year! Just remember to avoid using untreated tap water because chlorine can kill the bacteria. Letting the water sit out for 24 hours, using filtered water, or an aquarium dechlorinator works great. Also, keep an eye on your pH levels, aiming for a range of about 6.2 to 6.5 for the best results!
