Why Are My Tomatillos Growing Big Husks but Tiny Fruit?

Asked By GreenThumb85 On

I bought a pack of tomatillos and the plants are doing great – they're flowering and producing a lot of husks. However, the husk is big while the fruit inside is really tiny. Is there something wrong with my tomatillos, or is this normal?

It sounds like your tomatillos just aren't ripe yet! The husk tends to grow larger before the fruit inside does, but over time, the fruit will catch up and even out. Typically, they'll be ready to harvest about 30 days after you first notice those big husks. Just hang in there! You might end up with a ton of tomatillos before you know it!

I appreciate that info! I'll keep an eye on them.
