What’s the Cost of Rehanging Cabinet Doors with New Hinges?

I recently had cabinets installed and just received my new sink. Due to the sink taking up space, the cabinet doors need new hinges placed below the original ones. I'm looking for a rough estimate on the cost in USD or CAD for purchasing new soft close hinges and having the two doors rehung. My contractor tends to overcharge, so I'm asking here for some insight.

Keep in mind, the hinge type matters. If you’re using hidden European style hinges, you’ll have to be precise with the installation, which might take more time. Also, professionals may charge a minimum fee, even for small jobs. Setting aside $300 seems like a reasonable budget, considering you might want to get a quality job done.

Absolutely! It's better to budget a bit more to ensure a proper installation.

Good point about the minimum charges! But for soft close hinges, you should be fine. Just make sure it's done right!

This should be a quick job, honestly! It's probably about a 15-minute task for each door if you've got the right tools. The hinges should cost around $30 for a pair. For the whole job, including labor, I wouldn't go over $100. It's also doable if you want to try it yourself!

Just make sure you account for the new hinge placement since it’s a different location. You might need to adjust for that.

Yeah, it’s super easy! You should definitely give it a shot if you’re comfortable with a drill and screwdriver.
