I've got an M18 FMTIW2F12 that won't turn anymore. Whenever I pull the trigger, it makes this high-pitched noise from the back of the housing. If I attach a 1/2" socket and manually spin it while the trigger is held, it barely turns half a turn really slowly. I've checked all the wiring and everything looks good, but I can't find anyone online with the same issue. Is there a way to fix this without shelling out over €150 for new electronics?

I had a similar problem, and it turned out to be the rotor getting stuck. Just make sure you're not experiencing any binding there. From what you're describing, if the hammer/anvil assembly spins fine without the rotor, you might just need to investigate what's causing the rotor to snap rather than try to replace any costly electronics.
It sounds like you might be dealing with a mechanical issue rather than an electrical one. If there's a problem with the hammer and anvil interface, it could prevent proper movement. You should be able to spin the 1/2" square drive anvil by hand without much resistance. If it's too tight, that's where the problem might lie.
