I'm looking to replace my exterior light fixtures and I also need a mounting board installed behind them. I'm not sure whether I should hire an electrician or a handyman for this job. Can anyone give me some advice on who would be the best choice?

Honestly, electricians might not be the best choice for anything carpentry-related. They’re great at electrical work but often don’t do as well with things like drywall and boards. If there’s existing wiring, a handyman should be more than capable of handling it. Plus, if you’re feeling handy yourself, making your own mounting blocks is a quick DIY project!

If you're looking for someone to do both jobs smoothly, a quality handyman is a good pick. Electricians usually stick to strictly electrical tasks. Just make sure the handyman you choose is experienced enough to handle the installation safely!

I'd say go for a handyman for this type of job. They typically do things like mounting boards and can handle straightforward electrical work too, unless there’s an actual electrical problem. Electricians could do it, but you might end up paying more for what is essentially a simple installation.
