How to Stop Water from Pooling in My Gravel Driveway?

Asked By GravelGuru92 On

I recently moved in and just experienced my first heavy rain, and I've started to notice water pooling in several areas of my gravel driveway. For example, there's significant pooling around the asphalt apron, as well as large areas closer to the house and in the middle of the gravel. What can I do about this, and is it a serious concern?

One solution is to add more gravel to your driveway. You should aim to make the center of the drive the highest point to help guide the water away. This can create a slight slope that directs the water off to the sides, preventing pooling.

What kind of material should I use? Just more gravel, or is it better to mix in something like compacted dirt?
