I was using my bathroom sink when I heard a subtle clunk sound that reminded me of when someone turns off the shower. After that, the water pressure dropped significantly, going from a strong stream to just a weak trickle. Now it barely dribbles out when I turn it on, and there's a delay when I try to turn it off. What could be the cause, and is there anything I need to replace?

Is this issue specific to just this sink? If it’s happening for both hot and cold water, I suggest removing the aerator to see if that improves the flow. Another trick is to turn off the valve under the sink, remove the supply lines, and see if water flows normally into a bucket. If it does, the faucet is likely the problem. If it’s an old one, replacing it might be the easier fix since they’re not too pricey.
Sounds like you might be experiencing "water hammer". That clunk you heard is typically caused by an air bubble in the plumbing. It can happen when the main supply is turned off and then back on. This can disturb debris in the pipes and cause clogs, particularly in the aerator. Make sure to clean that out, and also check if the faucet cartridges are clogged!
We had turned off the water supply a couple of weeks ago for a toilet replacement. I’ll definitely check the aerator! Thanks!
First thing you might want to do is unscrew the aerator at the end of the faucet. Those can get clogged with mineral deposits over time. Cleaning it out could help increase the flow of water again!
I will try this!

Only the one sink is affected, and yes, it’s for both hot and cold. I’ll clean the aerator first since the sink is definitely old!
