Hey everyone! I've got some cedar raised garden beds with grass growing in between them, about 3 feet apart. I'm trying to avoid regularly using my string trimmer since my mower (46" deck) can't access these areas. My plan is to kill the grass and then lay down a thick layer of wood chips. I just got a load of wood chips delivered unexpectedly, so I haven't dealt with the grass yet. Does anyone know an effective and quick method to remove the grass? I'm hesitant to use chemicals like Ground Clear, since I don't want to damage the garden beds and there's a protected trout stream just 15 feet away. Would using cardboard or a propane torch work better? I'm open to any suggestions! Thanks!

I’d suggest scalping the grass with a weed whacker first, then lay down some cardboard and put the wood chips on top. It’ll smother the grass and help retain moisture!

This is definitely the way to go! Just make sure to wet everything down after you lay it down. It’s perfect to do this if rain's expected!
