I just had a chat with my neighbor while she was mowing her lawn, and she mentioned that she's been having a tough time trimming her bush. She asked if I could lend a hand this weekend. I feel like she might be struggling since her husband, who used to be the gardener, isn't around anymore due to their divorce. We have a good rapport, so I'm more than happy to help. I do have some secateurs, but they're a bit dull and I don't want to seem unprepared. Also, should I wear gloves, or does that seem like overkill? Thanks for any tips!

Honestly, no harm in helping her out. Just remember to check for any nests before you dive in. If you're unsure about trimming, it might be better to leave it alone! And hey, if you’re comfortable enough, maybe a light dinner invitation could help break the ice a bit before you start gardening!
I think it’s fine to help out, but just make sure you don’t overstretch yourself. If you have your own garden to manage, balancing both can be tricky. Maybe take some protective gear just in case, and prep your tools so you can get it done smoothly. Good luck!
Definitely sharpen those secateurs! You don’t want to show up all excited only to find your tools can't handle her overgrown bush. Wearing gloves is a good idea since you might encounter some surprising stuff in there. Just take your time and keep her happy with the shape, because a well-trimmed bush is worth showing off!
