Hey folks! I'm in Toronto and just got a quote for building a new second-floor pressure-treated wood deck. The dimensions are 14 feet by 12 feet. The quote is $18,000 plus HST, bringing it to about $20,340 CAD. This includes tearing out the old materials, preparing the site, delivering new materials, and everything from framing to installing railings and finishing touches. I want to know if this price seems fair for 2025 or if anyone else has had similar projects done recently. Any thoughts?

I agree that it's a bit steep for a wood deck of that size. If I were spending that much, I'd lean towards composite decking instead. It saves you from the hassle of maintenance, which can be worth it in the long run. Definitely get more quotes to see where this one stands!
That sounds pretty pricey for a relatively small deck, but prices can vary based on location. It's good to check if they plan on replacing the ledger board and fixing any damage to the rim joists, as those can add to costs. Also, make sure to compare at least two more quotes to get a better sense of the market rate!
