Just Got a New Saw Stop – What Next?

Hey everyone! So, my Delta 36-725 just gave up on me, and it looks like fixing it would cost more than buying a new saw. I decided to invest in a 1.75hp Saw Stop with a router table insert instead (though I had to stick to the smaller model since I don't have 220v available). Now that I have it, I have a few questions:

1. After I set it up and align the blade and fence with the miter slot, what's the first thing I should do? I might need to build a new sled anyway.
2. I got a spare cartridge and a dado cartridge along with a dado zero clearance plate. Are there any other consumables I should think about?
3. What's the best way to get rid of my old saw? It's taking up too much space in my small shop!

Did you get a mobile base for your new saw? I initially got the integrated one, but it was a pain to move around. Upgraded to an industrial one later, and it made setup much easier since it’s more maneuverable during the initial adjustments!

I didn’t get one since the setup guide said that if I install the router on the left, I wouldn’t be able to use the mobile base.

Definitely consider getting a new blade or two! A dial indicator is handy for ensuring your blade is parallel to the slots and your fence is aligned too. Once that's sorted, set it up and make some dust. Just be careful with the Saw Stop’s bypass switch—don’t want to trip it with wet wood or accidentally hit metal!

I already have some good blades from my old saw. Planning to clean them up while I set everything up!

You could just list your old saw for free on a marketplace. I did that with mine and it disappeared pretty quickly!

Yeah, I second that! I had someone pick up my old 36-725 in no time, it was pretty surprising.

That’s the plan! I might try for $75 since I added a router table to it and it has a nice cabinet base.
