How can I hide the gas line of my freestanding oven?

I'm looking to create a small surround for my freestanding gas oven since it's not flush against the wall and collects a lot of dust and grease. With my toddler exploring everything, I want to hide the gas line for safety and make cleaning easier. I've considered using cement board like some van builders do or using solid two-by-fours painted with fireplace paint. However, I can't find guidance that's specific to my situation since most kitchen advice focuses on cabinets, and I don't have space for those. Any helpful tips or ideas would be appreciated! (Also, if you can guide me on posting pictures, I'm happy to share my setup!)

Cement board can be tricky since it's porous and requires a proper frame to support it if you choose to go that route. A better option might be using melamine, which is pre-finished particleboard that is inexpensive and easy to work with, though it may not last forever. Just make sure if you're comfortable with carpentry. You could make a simple frame around the oven to cover the gas line with this material.

Just a heads up, cement board is often used when tiling, so if you plan to do anything decorative on top, that's a good choice. Otherwise, melamine is totally the way to go for a quick fix!
