I just received a quote of $8,000 to replace a single wall of siding measuring 28 by 24 feet. I'm located in Colorado and have been struggling to find a contractor willing to do just this small job. Most seem to want to replace the siding for the whole house. As a side note, the material of the siding that needs repairs is particle board. Does this price seem reasonable?

Yeah, it feels a bit steep. Did they mention the full-house quote? It might help to understand the pricing structure better. Also, the fact that you have particle board siding could influence the cost, especially if it needs extra care during replacement.
The price seems high for just one wall, but a lot depends on the siding material and labor costs in your area. Smaller projects often have higher per-unit costs because they’re less appealing to contractors who prefer larger jobs. If possible, try to get at least two more quotes before making a decision.
