What Should I Do About the Sewer Drain in My Driveway?

I just bought a house last month and discovered something unexpected: there's a sewer runoff drain right in the middle of my driveway. At first, I thought it was just a pothole, but when I looked deeper, I realized what it really was. I was planning to repave my driveway this summer, but now I'm not sure how to handle this situation. Should I cap the drain or cover it up? I even tested it by flushing the toilet and can hear the water flowing through, confirming it's a sewer line.

I’m curious about the specifics of your setup. Is it a manhole cover? Or does it just look like a cover on a gravel driveway? If it's more of a septic cover, just keep in mind that you might need access to it down the road for pumping.

It sounds like what you have is a sewer clean-out, which is important to leave wherever it is. If you cover or cap it, you might regret it if you run into a sewer issue down the line. Just make sure it’s accessible for maintenance when needed.
