Hey everyone! I'm trying to install a shovel and rake organizer in my garage, but I'm really struggling with drilling into the concrete block walls. I've got a masonry bit that's the right size, but after drilling just an 1/8 inch, it stops. Do I need a special drill for this? I have 24 holes to get through, and after an hour of trying, I'm tempted to throw in the towel! Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You're definitely going to want a hammer drill for this task. A low-cost one from places like Harbor Freight or Menards works fine if you're not looking to spend a lot. Renting a more expensive hammer drill typically costs about the same as buying a cheap one, so keep that in mind. Trust me, once you switch, you'll see a world of difference!
Seriously, get yourself a hammer drill. If you can, go for a rotary hammer drill—they're way better for this kind of job. You could check out local tool rental spots for one, but you definitely won't get far with a regular drill and a masonry bit—trust me on that!
I'm curious, would an impact drill do a better job?

That sounds about right! I've read online that it's possible to do it without a hammer drill, but 24 holes would probably take forever! ?
