Looking for Feedback on a DIY Solar System Planning App – Would You Use It?

Hey everyone! I'm diving into development for a solar system design app targeted at DIY enthusiasts, vanlifers, and anyone looking to go off-grid. This app will be available on desktop and mobile, featuring a 3D visual layout of key components like batteries, inverters, and charge controllers (though I'm not including wiring simulations yet). Here's what I'm aiming to include:

1. **Wire size calculator** for voltage, current, cable length, and voltage drop.
2. Automatic sizing for fuses and breakers.
3. Battery bank configurations for series and parallel setups, with details on total voltage, max continuous draw, and peak capacity.
4. Idle consumption simulation for inverters and DC/DC devices.
5. Appliance/device input to track daily and peak consumption.
6. Solar array sizing based on load and sun exposure.
7. MPPT recommendations for optimal configurations.
8. A surface area optimizer for solar panel setups.
9. Separate tracking for AC and DC loads.

Additional features might include a budget estimator, smart warnings, and a PDF export function.

I really want this app to be user-friendly and assist with real-world solar planning, especially related to LiFePO4 batteries and optimizing space. But I'm curious about whether there's enough interest out there. Would you find this app useful? What features would you want to see? Are there any specific challenges in your solar planning that this could address? Any feedback would be much appreciated!

This app sounds promising! Adding features like a days-of-autonomy estimator could really help users account for various battery sizes and weather patterns. That way, it becomes more realistic about how long we can rely on our solar setups. What do you think?

Absolutely go for it! I think such an app would be super helpful for folks like us trying to set up solar systems. It sounds comprehensive and beginner-friendly, which is great!

For sure, I’d use this! Maybe consider including affiliate links to trusted equipment or popular gear to help monetize. Also, a web app could be more convenient than separate desktop and mobile versions. Just a thought!

Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll keep that in mind.
