Looking for Non-Vomiting Plant Options for My Cat

I've been trying to find plants that my cats can safely chew on without making them sick. I initially bought Spider Plants because they're labeled as non-toxic, thinking they'd enjoy the leafy texture and leave my other plants alone. To my surprise, they can actually induce vomiting! So now I'm on the lookout for alternative leafy plants that are safe for my cats to munch on and won't leave them feeling ill. Any recommendations?

Wheat grass is another great option! You can find it at most grocery stores, and it’s safe for cats to eat. It typically lasts about a week, depending on how much your cats enjoy it. Also, have you thought about checking their diet? Sometimes, underlying food intolerances can lead them to seek out plants as a way to soothe their stomachs. The right diet can make a huge difference in their behavior!

It's interesting that your cats like the Spider Plants! Just so you know, cats often eat grass to induce vomiting as a way to clear hairballs or indigestible materials. It's a natural behavior, even if it’s a bit annoying! For safer options, consider literal cat grass; it’s specifically designed for them to munch on. Just be careful—if they eat too much, it can still lead to some vomiting.

Exactly! They eat plants when they want to throw up, so it’s all part of their instinct.

I get where you're coming from! Cat grass is a good staple because it’s designed for them, and you could also try growing your own catnip or wheat grass from seeds. It’s a fun and easy project! But just so you know, even safe plants can sometimes lead to vomiting, so keeping them out of reach could help too.
