Best Garden Solutions for Frequent Movers?

I'm a beginner gardener who's always on the move—usually moving about three times a year between Louisiana and Iowa for work. I want to start a small garden, but I need something that's easy to transport. I know I could use pots, but I'd prefer to avoid a bunch of heavy ones while still having some variety in veggies. I'm currently growing some herbs in small pots and I started radishes. I'm looking for recommendations on easy crops and any suitable pots or garden beds that are designed for easy moving. Any suggestions?

A container garden is an option, but they can get pretty heavy, especially with plants like tomatoes. If you want something more mobile, consider a hydroponic setup—just drain the water for an easier move! But keep in mind that transplanting might affect plant survival. If your move is frequent, this could be a good route to explore.

Have you thought about using grow bags? They're lighter than traditional pots and fold up nicely when not in use. You can get them in different sizes, from small ones up to larger ones, but I would stick to 20-30 gallons for easier mobility. You can grow a wide variety of veggies in them, and if you need to move them, just slide them onto a piece of cardboard to make it easier!

Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll definitely check out grow bags!

Using flexible black nursery pots could work great too! I use 15-gallon ones, which are big enough for a decent amount of plants but not too heavy to transport. They're stackable, durable, and I’ve found good deals at local nurseries. Just make sure whichever pots you choose, they’re manageable for your truck space!
