Hey everyone! I just turned 30 and started my gardening journey last year, which has truly changed my life. I'm curious to know when gardening really clicked for you. Did you grow up with it, or did you start later in life? Is it something that's becoming more popular among younger people, or has it always been a passion for folks of all ages? I'd love to hear your gardening stories!

I’m a total late bloomer—just got into it this year at age 30! Growing up in the desert meant gardening was tough, but my dad always grew tomatoes and jalapeños on the side of our house. Now that I’ve moved to the Midwest, I just had to make a garden! I’m currently growing a bunch of veggies: tomatoes, peppers, zucchini, and more. It’s been a blast learning as I go and I can’t wait to see how my garden evolves over the next few years!

Absolutely, the smell of tomato plants takes me back! There's something so comforting and familiar about it.

I was around 7 or 8 when I first got into gardening. My parents let me mess around in a little shady spot by the house, where I planted seeds I could find at the drug store—10 packets for a dollar, can you believe that? ? I made little ponds and even had mosquito fish! Since those early days, I’ve always had to have plants in my life, no matter where I've lived. Now I'm settled in my 30s with a nice backyard garden and my kids have their own little plots. I'm truly a lifer when it comes to gardening!

I can relate; starting young definitely sets the tone for a lifelong love of plants! Over the years, it really teaches you patience and appreciation for nature.

I got into gardening after my mom passed away. She loved plants, and I really started to pick it up at 38 when I inherited her beloved plants. Now, caring for them feels like keeping her memory alive, which means so much to me.

I didn’t really dive into gardening until I was around 44 or 45, mostly influenced by the pandemic. I began to realize how much food I could grow myself! Now I love experimenting with different plants, propagating cuttings, and saving seeds. It’s exciting to see what happens each season. Definitely a surprise every time!

I remember growing my first lettuce for my pet turtles when I was just 5! That little moment sparked my love for gardening, and it's fascinating to still find seed starting magical after all these years.

Just started at 43! Embracing my rental and getting into gardening has been a fun challenge. I even set up drip irrigation! It’s like building with useful Legos. If I actually manage to grow something, that will just be a bonus.
