I'm currently in the design phase of building my new house. Initially, I had a plan for a 3-car outdoor garage in a separate building. However, things have changed, and I've added a basement level that includes a garage for 6 cars, which is way more than I actually need. Now I'm thinking about completely removing the outdoor garage from the plans, but I'm having second thoughts. I'm not worried about how it will affect resale value; I just want to make sure I'm not missing any practical considerations. Any thoughts on this?

As a car enthusiast, I can't wrap my head around the idea of having "more than enough" garage space. It seems like you'll always end up needing more space for tools or projects! If you have both a basement and an outdoor garage, is it really a bad idea to keep both?
I'd suggest considering the size of your yard and the house. If your yard is sizable, keeping the detached garage could be a smart move for storage or projects. Plus, it might help if you’re thinking of putting in a playground for the kids because removing that garage could free up some space. What are your thoughts on layout and backyard usability?
Have you thought about where you're going to store things like your lawnmower or maybe even a third vehicle? If you have a screened area in your garden for equipment, that might not provide enough protection from the elements. Just a thought!
Yeah, I'm aware of the uncovered area. It’s definitely something I need to address with protection from rain. Thanks for the reminder!

True, I do want to keep some play space for the kids! The garage measures 79m², which I thought about moving for more usable yard space. Plus, the gym is in the way, and I could shift that to the basement. Might need to rethink this layout.
